The PHASMA Experiment

The focus of the center will be the PHAse Space MApping experiment, or PHASMA. This experiment is designed to make three-dimensional measurements of the motion of ions and electrons at kinetic scales.

Major facility instrumentation developed with support from the National Science Foundation.

U.S. Department of Energy

The U.S. Department of Energy funded a $2 million grant to the new Center for Kinetic Experiment, Theory and Integrated Computation Physics.

NASA

Funding from the National Aeronautics and Space Administration goes toward understanding of kinetic scale plasma physics for improved modeling for space weather prediction.
