Research Scientist

Peiyun received his PhD in plasma physics from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2019. Then he worked as a postdoc in the Center for KINETIC Plasma Physics at West Virginia University from 2019 to 2022. He has experience on conducting plasma experiments on both the nuclear-fusion relevant magnetic mirror device (Keda Mirror with AXisymmetricity, KMAX) and fundamental plasma facility (PHAse Space MApping experiment, PHASMA). His present research focus is on simulating and investigating space relevant plasma phenomena at the particle velocity distribution function level in the laboratory with advanced laser diagnostics. He has developed one incoherent Thomson scattering system in PHASMA to enable the direct measurements of electron velocity distribution functions at the electron kinetic scale during the magnetic reconnection.
